Would it not be better if you entered each one, do the search and then read the description yourself. I would have to take my time to do that for you. . .And what would you learn.
To start off with those are not all crystals or quartz either IE., Tiger's Eye is fossilized asbestos, Hematite is one of the iron ores, Goldstone is most probably man made.
What is Blue Lace or New Jade. . .those are some local names not in mineral books.
The Mayans - Being Familiar With Their Trade And Economy
The Mayans had a complex system of trade and economy throughout their entire history. In truth, as opposed to early statements, the Mayans actually had solid commercial ties along with other Mesoamerican cultures from all over South as well as Central America.
This trade network primarily started as a linear route that ran from the Guatemala up to Mexico during the Preclassic period (around 2000 BC to 300 AD). After a while, this trading network would transform and shift according to economic and political needs. One of many main trading sites of the Mayan trade route contain major city states just like Kaminaljuyu and Taka'lik A'baj.
Improvement of the Mayan trading networks.
The blossoming of these trading networks due to the Mayans' specialization in certain goods as well as the favoravle trading relationships with their neighbors. The specialized area of trading relationship was driven largely by the production of resources between trading partners and also the expansion of merchant class.
Clearly, the broad trade carried out by the Mayans would precipitate an increase in knowledge transfer with their neighbors. With such, it was only a matter of time prior to the Mayan literature, mathematics and astronomic expertise would be diffused to other Mesoamerican cultures and also tribes.
Jade, Turquoise and Various Other Luxury Items
Amongst the most highly valued luxury items exchanged by the Mayans were Jade, Obsidian and Turquoise. Jade was a valued trade commodity because the Mayans thought that it possesses sacred powers advantageous to rulers. Turquoise however was believed by the Mayans to be a substance kept dear by the Mayan gods and was considered to be associated with smoke.
The Mayans greatly valued these gems as well as other green colored objects as they believe these items have a mystical link to their gods and to their semi-divine rulers as well.
Merchants and The Impacts of Trade To The Mayan Society
Predictably, a large class of merchants in time developed as a result of the relatively vast Mayan trade network. These merchants would surely enlist with the middle class, together with artisans and other specialists who helped raise the demand for further commerce and production within Mayan society.
It was up to the merchants to carry out large scale trade with the Mayan's neighbors, to moving around from one point of the Mayan trade network to another. The transport of the merchant's products was conducted by recruited porters, considering the absence of the wheel along with pack animals in Mesoamerica.
Among the most common goods that Mayans traded are Salt, Cotton Vanilla, Obsidian, Cacao and Vanilla. Other resources including Pyrite, Quartz, Magnatite, Clay and Cinnabar were also widely bought and sold to be used in the creation of mirrors, arms, dyes, ceramics and clothes.
Many of these goods were part of everyday Mayan life, so much in fact that even salt and chocolate were regarded as basic goods by even the lower classes of society. Other goods which are traded, yet which were not essentially used for the fabrication of any particular type of product were Jaguar skins, Quetzal feathers, Shells, Macaw feathers as well as various other animal furs. Like Jade and Obsidian, these furs were utilized mainly for decoration or adornment by the upper class to denote their rank and social position.
The Importance of Trade
The Mayan civilization was really reliant on trade. In fact, one of many major explanations why the Mayan civilization collapsed was that its trade routes fell apart. The scarcity of trade caused an erosion of success, which in time brought to the decline of Mayan society.
Overall, the Mayans reaped benefits greatly from trade. It was the supply of luxury items such as Jade and Turquoise for the upper classes. Trade delivered commoners with Obsidian and Salt for their work and daily needs respectively. And since trade amplified so did the power of the sellers, who consequently contributed to the prosperity of Mayan civilization right until their very end.
