Learn Spanish in Peru and Tour Cultural Museums
When you learn Spanish in Peru, there is an extraordinary education experience that awaits you through exploring the city's museums. This cultural experience will enhance your studies and make your entire trip even more intellectually invigorating. These museums will also provide you with a more thorough understanding of the region. Cusco is located in Southeastern Peru near the Andes Mountains. The city has a wide variety of museums that cover a wide variety of subject matters. This location is a major tourist destination due, in part, to the fact that it is the historic capital of the Incan empire. In fact, Cusco was declared a World Heritage Site in 1982.
About a million people visit the city each year and take advantage of the various cultural landmarks. When you attend Spanish school in Cusco, all of these tourist attractions will be conveniently located right in your backyard!
Some of the various notable museums in Cusco include the Inca Museum of the National University San Antonio Abad, which houses ancient stonework, pottery and textiles. Paintings in this museum date back to Cusco's colonial era. Another famous museum that has objects from the pre-Incan period is the Pre-Columbian Art Museum.
The Regional History Museum of Cusco is one of the most popular museums in the area. It has been in existence since 1946. This museum contains many famous paintings as well as sculptured wood relief carvings. Archaeological pieces are also contained in this museum in addition to agricultural tools and instruments.
If you are looking to see even more archaeology, you can check out the Archaeological Museum of Cusco. This institution is located in an old colonial house called "The House of the Admiral." The museum showcases pieces from as early as the Incan period. You can find various archaeological pieces and also pottery, textiles, idols and precious metals.
Yet more art can be found in the Museum of the Archbishop's Palace, and Museum of Santa Catalina Convent. Further, the Museum of the Convent of the Merced has paintings from the 17th and 18th century and carved stone and religious art. The Santo Domingo Church is another art museum that is housed in a 17th century church. In fact, this museum is located right on the site of The Temple of the Sun, which is a historic site. This is a magnificent building in gothic renaissance style, which has UNESCO World Heritage status. This building displays various holy Christian artifacts including altars, the Maria Angola bell cast in 1659, and the black Christ.
As you can see the amount of museums that will be accessible to you if you choose to study at a Spanish school in Cusco is rather impressive. This is just one of the many reasons to learn Spanish in Peru.
Besides educational opportunities, the country also offers diverse geographical terrain including world famous beaches and surfing, delicious food, nightlife and shopping. As you can see, this country truly offers something for everyone.
