Legends/ Stories of People Stealing Church Goods?
Do you have any legends or stories that you have heard of people stealing things from church?
I'll tell you a true story:
A woman desired pearl earrings from a Virgin Mary Statue in church. She told her boyfriend to steal them. He did, gave them to her, and they both committed suicide that day and were found dead on the beach--clearly an act of God for their remorse and guilt.
Another one: A man stole a blessed angel from a church and tried to sell it to monks, nuns at a monastery, and wherever they went God's divine punishment was on them, and the religious endowed with the HOLYSpirit saw that they were stolen, and trembled with fear and refused to have the angel, so he NEVER sold the angel and abandoned it.
Ok, here's my personal true story.
My friend had an electronic drum set (say 2 or 3 thousand dollars worth) stolen from our church. We were pretty upset you can bet. Three or four days later, the worship leader happened to walk into a pawn shop; he's still not sure why, it's not a regular habit of his or anything. There were the drums. After my friend had all the paperwork sorted out and the police reports and all that he got his drums back free and clear. And we suspect someone learned a lesson about stealing....
